On Friday, February 20th, Eastview High School held an event in order to raise money for cancer patients, familys who are dealing with and effected by cancer and cancer reaserch. The event was titled "Voices of Hope," and that is exactly what it was. This sing-a-thon was held in the Performing Arts Center in Eastview High School from 8 A.M. to midnight with a variety of participaipants.
There was everything from eastview Spanish classes preforming in spanish, Japenese classes preforming in japaneese, a variety of choirs from different grades and choir classes. Even some of eastviews teachers and alumni sang for the cause. Also choirs from other North Field and Falcon Ridge helped raise money for the foundation and came to share their voices and show their support for cancer. Later in the day a local boy band called " The Selceted Three" preformed.
The Angel Foundation and Eastview High School teamed up to work together to make this event possible. Eastview organized most of the event with help to a lot of eastview volunteers. Judy Sagen directed this event. Brooke Kallgariff , Miss Twin Cities, and former eastview alumni helped host the event by announcing the preformers and even singing a few songs herself.
This event will benefit the Angel Foundation which is a non-profit ogranizations that helps people who are effected by cancer. The foundation helped raise money by charging each performer a fee of ten dollars. Also teachers at Eastview encouraged all of their students to help raise money. Some teachers even gave small prizes to classes who which ever one of their classes raised the most money. Other teachers told students if they raised a certain amount of money they could get out of class to watch the preformance.
I watched Voices Of Hope in a few classes but the last hour is what really got me to appreciate the event when a classmate of mine said Voices of Hope was "Inspiring and I was glad to see how many people were supportive in this event." Everyone who participated did a great job and raised thousands of dollars for the cause.
